Next Week is "POSITIVE or its pointless" week at PINE HILLS HOCKEY CLUB

Sport is an integral part of the Queensland way of life. At Pine Hills Hockey Club we want our kids to keep participating in physical activities, and it is essential that their experience in junior sport is positive and fun.
Children, parents, spectators, officials, coaches and volunteers all have an important role to play in making sure junior sporting environments are safe, fun and inclusive.
The Positive or it’s pointless campaign aims to reduce poor and unacceptable player, spectator and parent behaviour to make sport safe for all children.
To support clubs with promoting the Positive or its pointless messages, the Queensland Government has provided access to free resources and online training opportunities.
Pine Hills Hockey Club is pleased to have received $1000 from Qld Dept of Sport and Recreation for the purchase of equipment and training aids so we can maintain our goal of providing safe and enjoyable sport in a family friendly and inclusive environment.

Next Week is "POSITIVE or its pointless" week at PINE HILLS HOCKEY CLUB

At TRAINING on 8 or 9th August  we know ALL of our juniors try to do their best MOST of the time but tonight one will receive a special reward from their coach for their positive approach to training (towards the coach, other players, and applying themselves) All players will be given a flyer to take home and some info about -
MATCH DAY on 10 or 11th August  a player from each Junior team will be awarded a voucher for POIP behaviour shown during the game - the player will be selected by the Umpire. The player will show positive support for their team, the umpire, and their coach - all while having fun. Parents who support our club in making junior sport positive everyday... are asked to show their support by wearing  ORANGE. ...  ...it's all about having FUN!

Chocolate Drive

A huge thank you to all that helped the club with the selling/eating of the chocolates.  A fundraising drive like this is not possible without the support of everyone, thank you so much.
The draw for the I pod shuffle took place last night at grass training with our Vice President Megan drawing the winner - congratulations to Jessica Fox from the U13C team whose name was drawn out.
The money raised from the chocolate drive will be used to buy all the trophies for this year as well as adding to our training equipment. Thanks again to everyone.
Kylie - Junior Girls Secretary
And a big thank you from your team-mates - they will love all the bright sparkly goalie gear, domes, balls, fitness gadgets etc - we will spend the $2.5K profit wisely. Well done Kylie and Craig for your wonderful skills in collating all of the sales.

Under 7 Yellow Team match report from 28th July.

The under 7 Yellow team ran their little yellow butts off to win again this week. An amazing result of 5-3 saw our little ones smile brightly after an extended lay-off due to school holidays, wet weather and a bye.

It wasn’t looking good at first when our opponents Commercial came out with a goal in the first minute (after a minor hiccup when both teams appeared to be running towards the same goal...lol). However our team followed up with their own goal shortly after, so with chests puffed out, big grins and high fives, it was game on.

Clancy certainly found his feet this week and ran them all over the field. Brooklyn fought off a headache to practice some more great defence. Our power player Maddie gave us some lucky breaks with her big pushes down the field. Yellow’s two little powerhouses on the field, Lily and Michala did the team proud once again, with another 3 goals between them, ably supported by their pals Holly and Roisin who also scored a champion’s goal each. Mya was keen as ever and darted around the field with her stick swinging every which way she could make it go. And who could not once again be impressed by Sophie’s sheer determination on the field, chasing the ball at all costs to pass it back to her team mates.

Maybe it was the bright blue sky or perhaps it was the fresh breeze that hyped up our players before the game, but this week we are going to attribute our fantastic team spirit and well deserved win to our new matching yellow and navy headbands generously handmade by Holly’s Grandma. Top stuff......and looking good!

We are pleased to announce that we are again successful in gaining a Grant from
The money, $6221, will allow us to put power and lighting into the newly constructed storage shed located on the 'NW' corner of our field. Funds for this shed, $7502, also came as a grant from the council.
The project will allow us to move our gear that is stored elsewhere on the Reserve into a location that is more accessible to our own training facility. No longer will we need to strike out into the great dark unknown to search for uniforms and goalie gear. No longer will our little lean-to be cluttered to the rafters with linemarking machinery and kit bags.
We proudly acknowledge the support and assistance that we receive from MBRC in a huge range of matters. The result is that we have a facility that is envied by many.

U7's Yellow 9/6

Our under 7s Yellow “hockeyroos” team followed up with another incredible high scoring win this week! Despite being one down with our little ‘roo Holly out with a nasty tummy bug, it was clear we were up for a win when Clancy started warm up with a few team rules he had written during the week. An early strong bully from Mickey gave us the break we needed to start the scoring streak. Lily, Roisin and Clancy followed up with some great passes and Maddy (this week’s captain) once again did the team proud with her strong pushes down the length of the field. In fact the pushes all around were so strong we spent a lot of time fetching the balls that were hit out from both teams! They might be under 7s but we saw the makings of real talent this game with Mya repositioning her body and stick to steal the ball in fierce tackles, Lily recognising that it is better to let the opponents ball cross the line than madly trying to save it and Mickey darting like a space invader to find the gaps in front of her markers. Our quiet achiever Brooklyn shone with an impressive save mid game and despite some near misses at goal by Sophie, Mickey and Mya, the team revelled in the eight successful goals of these three players and their team mate Lily! Its not the number of oranges these little guys can down at half time that is most impressive, its the true sportsmanship they show, cheering each other on, willingly subbing on and off during each 15 min half and eagerly trying their very best in both attack and defence. The broad grins around a rainbow of mouthguards are infectious, they are having a ball and the Club can be as proud as the players are of themselves. Top effort!

JT3 match report for Friday 8th June.

Our JT3 team braved the wind and cold of Redcliffe on a Friday night to play Norths.  It was a closely fought game from one end of the field to the other.   Norths took the early lead about half way through the first half off a corner.  The girls hung in and keep Norths on their toes before a lovely cross from the right was beautifully swept into the goal by Letitia in the 2nd half.
Both teams had their chances to skip to the lead but couldn't get one in the net.  Both Emma and the Norths goalie did some lovely saves.
A great game girls, you all fought hard and didn't give up.
A big thank you to Jade from JG2 and Rachel from U13B's for filling in for us again, you both played really strong and we can see the confidence growing in you both and you both boost the team when you are there.
Well done girls.

Introducing ~~~~~~

Our U/7 Yellow team showed up in full force at Rasey Park on the weekend. Our opposition was a team that ran all over us last year (so I’m told) so we knew we would be in for a hard fight.

The game started off in brilliant fashion.  Within the first few moments we had scored our first goal. Then, a few moments later we scored another, then another and another. Before we knew it we had scored 9 goals, and only given away 2.

Our little babies had won their first game of the
season!  The joy on the faces of those little 5, 6 and 7 year olds was priceless.  Each and every goal they scored they cheered like it could be their last. The coach even had a few little cheers (before realising it could be considered bad sportsmanship!!!).  I have never seen little people jump so high into the sky. They were all so proud of their achievements, and so was I.

Our team consists of –
Mickey - our goal scoring specialist who never fails to deliver.
Maya – our ever-reliable defender who has shown some unbelievable talent in only her first year of hockey
Lily – The quickest little whizz whom ever graced the hockey field.
Maddie – With her strong pushes and amazing ability, watch out for Maddie next year U/9s
Sophie – With her dogged determination, no attacker will get past Sophie
Holly – After scoring her first goal EVER in hockey last week, she backed it up and scored again this week. Great job.
Clancy – Definitely our rose between the thorns (sorry girls). Clancy’s tackling ability leaves others in his wake.
Roisin – Our quiet little timid forward who scored multiple goals in one game a few weeks back. A superb effort.
Brooklyn – Has shown some fantastic potential in her first year with the stick. Watch out for her long legs sprinting up the centre with the ball stuck to her stick.

Snags Anyone?

Aah the smell of snags in the Thursday evening air.
Where is it coming from ...... the little shed?
That's dinner sorted.
Thanks Megan, Dinah and Rachel.
Come and Join us, Everyone.
Dear Hillbillies
is there anyone who would like to write a report for their division? Or at least their team?
If you would like to be a regular reporter please contact Sam  boys@pinehillshockey.org.au  or Robyn treasurer@pinehillshockey.org.au so you can start blogging as soon as possible.
Otherwise just send us a story.  We love to hear what everyone is up to.

Here's a start...........

Is that a reflection off their unifom or egg on their faces .....
who almost called RACQ last Saturday when the keys did not  fit - then they checked the REGO and found out they were breaking into the Wrong Car........
who politely declined the opportunity to play for Uni, even quoting By-Laws to get out of it - then they found out they were being asked to sub for Pine Hills......

DP Women 5 May

Glorious weather for Hockey today.
Thank you to all the ladies who helped out with getting the jobs done - putting out and bringing in the posts, bins, tables and chairs. Your out of hours work (before 8am and after 5pm) is greatly appreciated. Notably Megan and her children. Hopefully next time there will be even more legs delivering flags in all directions.
Thank you to all those who baked and donated goods for the stall and raffle. Especially if you had to do extra yards to get the products to the field. Notably - Belinda and her Red Velvet cupcakes. They went like......hotcakes. M'mm.
Thank you to all who went down the the field to assist with sales, especially if you trod the sidelines selling tickets. Especially if you don't have children playing in the morning. Notably Rob and Mush and Al and Jacqui - their retail skills are second to none.
Something for next time - more seniors helping between 11 and 1 -  it is very difficult to pack up etc after all the Juniors have gone and other helpers have gone to their games.  Besides - you will get a carpark easier.
Remember - it is better that a lot do a little occasionally than a few do a lot regularly.
Now to the games -
This link will tell you everything
http://www.sportingpulse.com/club_info.cgi?clubID=37502&c=4-2560-0-0-0
but 1 Draw and 2 Losses left us with some tired and emotional players today.
A big thank you to the Juniors - Moira, Jessica and Jade - for again coming down to help the DP3 Team. You all played wonderfully and the game couldn't have gone on without you.
Cheers - let's stick it to them next week.

Hard Labour Weekend

What a wonderful bunch of willing and tireless workers we have at Pine Hills Hockey Club.
Did you all enjoy having a rest on Monday? Hope so because there was plenty of work for those of you who were ready to roll your sleeves up on Saturday and Sunday.
Early on Saturday a small but eager crew trundled out the garbage bins, put legs on tables, set up the chairs and slotted flags in all the corner post-holes at Downey Park while another crew trundled out goal nets and sizzled sausages at Rasey Park. Some of the same workers then joined another bunch of Happy Hillsers putting their retail skills to good use manning the Cake Stall and doing the rounds of the fields selling Raffle Tickets. Later in the day, there they were again putting it all away. What a team.
Of course it couldn't be done without all the cheerful efforts of those who put in the extra hours on Thursday and Friday by staying up late doing baking, going out to find special articles for the Raffle or putting in extra miles to get goods to the field in time. Well done everyone.
Other clubs will have the joy of doing this service for us over the rest of the season and we will happily put the $872 raised on the day towards some new goal gear. And that was just Saturday.
See our Facebook page for photos of all the hard workers at the Anaconda Sausage Sizzle on Sunday. Some of the same faces and same rolled up sleeves turned out again and joined a fresh crew for what looks like another lot of laughs and stimulating exercise. We have yet to collate the income but $650 seems possible. Well done - you are worth your weight in sausages.
So dear workers - If you were a supplier of goods, manpower, muscles, time, energy, money, or a friendly face, if you helped out in any way over the weekend, Thank you - you did your club proud and most likely you had a great time too. And whatever you did, whenever or where - the fact that you did something, means everything.

AGM - please consider nominating someone today

Do you know someone in our club who would love the opportunity to help us to manage our activities, raise money to reduce our fees, recognise our volunteers, develop or promote our wonderful club?
If so - consider nominating them for one of the positions on our Committee or for one of the many Volunteer Roles.

It is the perfect time to come on board - most of the work getting us underway for 2012 is done and the rest of the season can be spent being ably assisted along a smooth learning curve leading up to 2013.
The wonderful people doing most of the work for your club would love to have their help.

Please look at the Position Descriptions and get a nomination form from our website - there is sure to be something there that would suit someone you know. Maybe the two of you could do one of the tasks together. A job shared is a job halved.

Presently everyone on the committee is doing double/triple their load. That doesn't make it an attractive proposition to take on a big role does it but the more the little jobs can be shared the less the committee needs to do.

Here's a thought - Ask someone to nominate you.

Downey Park Women

Great games by all Ladies teams at DP on Saturday.
Welcome to all the lovely new ladies into our teams this year - we are already enjoying your company and your skills. Your energy and enthusiasm is infectious.

DP1 had a hard fought draw and DP4 held their opposition to a draw, in the second half. And it was hot.....

THANK YOU - in big letters - to the 4 Juniors who helped out the DP3 ladies and helped them to WIN.
Well done - goalscorer-Jade, Jessica, Moira and Asher. See you again in a few weeks, I hope.

While you were helping us out one of our long-serving players was getting ready to walk down the aisle and her faithful mates were putting on their best to go and celebrate with her.
On behalf of  PHHC  - here's to Nadia and Matt and a lifetime of love and happiness - hiphiphip rayrayray.

The NEW News

Welcome to Hockey Season 2012 - the 25th season for our Ladies Division - and the new way to spread our news.
Has your team got something great to share with the rest of us? I hope to hear from you soon.

Meantime- Help us spread the word about all of our Club Events - send your team-mates a link or simply print this page and show it to them.

cheers
